Eco Green Roofs were asked by Downhall Care Home to install their new green roof. The new care home had a Sarnafil single-ply membrane and being a recognised partner of Sika our green roof system is the perfect fit.
The roof is around 650m2 and had a sedum green roof specification. The Eco green roofs installation team was booked in to install the roof in early January 2015 and the installation took 3 days. As you can see the roof looks aesthetically pleasing and allows the building to blend into the surrounding environment.
Sedum green roofs naturally have many benefits to the building from reducing heating and electricity bills, holding up to 80% of rainwater, whilst also creating a nectar source for bees, butterflies and other rare wildlife.
The sedum blanket used on this green roof was grown in the UK and contained 8-12 Sedum species to create a full blanket that changes and flowers throughout the year. Eco green roofs only use Sedum blankets that have been grown for over a year to ensure the sedum plant roots are well developed and strong enough for the tough conditions at roof level. As you can see this healthy roof looks fantastic and shows over 95% plant coverage on the day of the green roof install.
